13 shots into your skull, do you remember now?
A young man stood under the cherry blossoms of a cemetery, his face puzzled. And his hair flowing with the wind. He looked like he was waiting for something, for someone...but he didn't knew why.
Alone. Perhaps that's the best word to describe how I feel tonight. Under these falling cherry blossoms, I stand here...all alone. With no memories to keep me company...I wonder...why was I drawn here? The stars aren't shining...and the moon seems shy tonight. There's absolutely no reason at all...but yet, my heart is drawn to this place of resting. Then again...do I really need a reason? Do I need a reason to love? Wait...what did i just say?
"She...she was the only one who understood my sorrow...and I...I couldn't protect her!"
"Oh how I wish to see your gentle smile again."
"My heart will always stay by you...so no matter how far we're apart. You won't be alone."
"The tears...they just won't stop."
"Your...now and forever. My only one."
What the? Why am I hearing voices? Wait a minute...this is...my voice. Then...where is she? Where is the one I cared so much about?
All of a sudden, a lighting quick flash of light slashed down a tree near the young man. Krion stepping aside to avoid the tree, looked back and saw another man with robotic armor and light blonde hair. Cherry blossom petals filled the background as the unknown man once again launched another attack.
Barely defending himself, Krion blocked the attack with his sword and was badly shaken but still standing.
"And you are?"
"Aah yes. My deepest apologizes. We haven't been formally introduced. My name is Kenyin, and I'm a Godslayer...just like you."
"Then...why are we fighting?"
"Your in my way."
"I see..." Krion commented as he drew his twin pistols and fired a string of bullets at his opponent. However the bullets were deflected by the sword of light as quickly as they reached their target. As Krion charged forward towards the Godslayer, he switched back his weapons and asked curiously.
"Hey...there's something I'v been meaning to ask you."
While making a leap backwards, Kenyin replied softly, "Shoot."
Taking that as a queue to fire his gun, Krion switched back one of his swords and asked the Godslayer as his bullet flew directly towards that face.
"Why do you hate gods so much to slay them?"
Upon hearing that, Kenyin cried out loudly, "Hah! It seems that you've forgotten your memories. I can see it in your eyes...they're much more clearer now. But have your heart truly forgotten the sin God has done to you?" He then slashed down another cherry blossom tree that revealed a very familiar gravestone to Krion.
"Let your heart remember. If your mind cannot." the Godslayer explained as he pointed his sword towards the gravestone.
Puzzled and curious, Krion walked up towards it and read the engraved words aloud to himself. "Rena Valenight. I won't forget. My soul will remember."
And once more, many voices could be heard in his mind. Soon he realized whose gravestone was that... "No...no...it can't be. I promised...and yet...I couldn't protect her." His heart felt heavy again...as if something that had been lost...had now returned. Cold sweat dripped down his face together with the tears filling his eyes. He couldn't understand why, but the tears didn't seem to stop. His heart ached with each tear that dropped.
"Death beacuse of fate. Is it not God's doing? Destiny that foretold that I had to kill my father with my own hands. The idea of having your life controlled...those are my reasons. " Kenyin added as Krion dropped to his knees.
As the very last falling blossom touched the ground, Krion stood back up and delivered a dual blow with his swords to Kenyin. Suprised at the might of the blows, Kenyin made a leap backwards again and extended his plasma sword directly at Krion's throat. However, oddly Krion didn't move an inch...let alone tried to defend himself. Puzzled and confused at the young heretic's move, Kenyin stopped the sword before it touched his foe.
"Why do you not move hurt one? Do you wish to die? Is that it!" he shouted out in an annoyed manner, but before he got a reply...Krion redirected the plasma sword away from him and charged forward in an amazing speed. Retracting back his sword, Kenyin defended just in time but was overthrown by the might of the impact. Landing back on his feet gracefully like a cat, the Godslayer felt a sudden surge of demonic force approaching from behind. Turning to his back he saw two black swords approaching, one aiming for his heart, the other at his face. Catching the one aiming at his face, and defending the other with his sword. The Godslayer couldn't believe the strength of his foe, but as he stared at his eyes and looked upon the ground...he realized that the heretic had more then one shadow.
"What the..." but before he could finish, Kenyin was kicked heavily at the stomach and flew back a few metres. While the Godslayer struggled to recover, the heretic didn't seem to let up as he approached with his joined dual swords to form a buster blade. Seeing this, the Godslayer enlarged his plasma sword to form a buster blade as well, and swung it up at the other crashing down buster blade. The impact of the clash caused the two to be blown back another few metres as the Godslayer took the chance to extended his sword towards his foe again. In the confusion filled with dust, Krion switched back his weapons and blocked the incoming sword with the blade edge of his guns. As the smoke cleared, the sounds of gun fire could be heard. However the Godslayer defended every last bullet and shouted to his foe, "No matter how strong you become, your bullets can never hurt me."
The smoke of dust finally cleared, revealing a grining Krion as he asked the Godslayer. "Wanna bet?"
As the Godslayer stood a sword stance, by holding his sword inbetween his eyes. He replied confidently, "Heh, bring it."
As Krion whispered to himself, he aimed his gun directly at the Godslayer's heart.
"It doesn't really matters anymore. Tears without meaning, images, voices without meaning. A promise that I broke, though I have no memory of how it happened. All this...they don't matter anymore? What am I saying...I'm just runing away. They do matter. She still matters so much. I can't deny it. I...I want to remember. Even if the memories will cause pain. If that is what it takes to continue to love her, then I don't mind being hurt!"
Soon the bullet in his gun was glowing a bright yellow, energy surges seem to fill the air around him.
"It won't get through." Kenyin taunted as he trusted his sword to be able to hold back anything.
"I won't run. You won't run too now would you? If even I, a human blinded to his memories say it can. Then it'll most definitely can!" Krion replied emotionally as he pulled the deciding trigger. The bullet flew in a golden light, leaving behind small traces of it's presence. As it clashed with Kenyin's sword, the bullet stopped for a moment as it tried to break through it. Slowly, bit by bit though it got through closer and closer till finally. The bullet flew right through the Godslayer's chest and landed right at Rena's gravestone.
As Kenyin laid on the cherry blossom filled ground, he stared into the clear night sky tonight, "Yes. Finally...it ends for me. It seems that it was I who wished to die, not you."
"To tell you the truth, back there...I really felt like I needed to die too...but now, I guess it's very clear that I'm not allowed to die...not just yet anyway." Krion confessed as he too stared up into the sky.
"Hey...you mind doing me a favour? Bury me here...I kinda like this place. And one more thing, give my sword to your father. Tell him, I'm sorry." As Kenyin said his final words, he saw his whole life flashed infornt of him. All the moments he had spent with Ledius, Rinlee, Isenyu. And his once forgotten past...
How I wish, that our journey had never ended...that we still were on that blissful journey towards destiny. But it seems that I would be joining you soon Rinlee.
A life with no regrets, to live only to die happy. It seems that we have drift too far Ledius...heh, even so...I can say safetly "I'm content."
Meanwhile, back in the underground base a scout had just returned and ran up towards the commander's room. As he slam open the door, "Sir! The floating castle! The angels! There's an entire army of them! And they seem to be waiting for something."
The commander undaunted and partially undress, "Well then, what are you waiting for? Tell the others to prepare for a full scale assualt on the castle. Then after that, bring Jen here for coffee."
"Huh?" the scout commented as he heard the last part of his commander's orders.
